Chess as a preventive therapy for brain aging

Today I bring you a person that many of you will not know, I didn't know him either until he came to my city (Pamplona) to give a conference. It is from Guipuzcoan Leontxo Garcia and he is a journalist with a passion that he usually talks about wherever he goes: the chess.

I'm going to leave you with one nine minute interview what they did to him and in which I highlight four moments in which he says that:

1) Chess serves as a preventive therapy for brain aging and, especially, Alzheimer's.

2) Chess develops intelligence, especially that of children, and improves their academic performance, especially in mathematics and reading comprehension.

3) In Spain there are already 300 schools that have introduced chess as a Spanish subject. The European Parliament has recommended the introduction of chess in schools as a compulsory subject.

4) Chess is the most complex mental game: the number of different games that can be played on a chess board is greater than the number of atoms in the entire known universe.
